Something God is Looking For
God made all of the earth and the universe. He owns everything. He doesn't need anything. The Bible makes all of that perfectly clear. However, Isaiah told us that there is something that God is looking for, even though He has all He needs. (Isaiah 66:2) What do you think that would be? We might think He would be looking for something very fancy or complicated, one of a kind. If we think that way, we would be wrong. God is looking for a person who is simple and plain, reverently responsive to what He says. That should not be too hard for God to find, but evidently that type of people are few and far between.
God desires for us to be simple and plain. After all, He made us the way we are. We should not want to put on airs. We should not want to make ourselves into someone who is complex. What you see in us should be what you get. The problem is that we want to add to what God has done. We want to make ourselves out to be very smart and extra beautiful or handsome. Those things don't make points with God. What He is looking for is someone reverently responsive to Him. In other words, God desires for us to care more about what He says to us that anything else and simply and plainly do it from our hearts. Now, how hard is that? It is not hard at all, but many people miss it, because they are making their lives too full of everything else. Let's stop and be content with who we are and what we have, so we can concentrate on hearing God and doing just what He asks of us. That would please Him very much.
