For Anyone Groping in the Dark
I am afraid there are a lot of people in this world who do not know where they are going. They are groping in the dark, instead of walking in the light. That is a terrible way to live, or should I say, exist. God doesn't mean for it to be that way for anyone in the world. He is there for those who are listening. He guides those who obey what He says to them in His Word and what He says to us directly, as we pray. The main thing we must do is to trust in God. We must lean on our God. (Isaiah 50:10) Let's examine this verse for insights we need to know where we are going and to walk in His light.
Isaiah speaks about God's Servant here in the prophecies at the end of his book. Some think the Servant is Israel, but I believe it is clearly Jesus. We see this by all of the specifics he gives us about what will happen to the Servant at the cross, 800 years later. Therefore, to hear from God and trust Him, we must know His Servant. That means we are to have a daily personal, love-relationship with Jesus Christ. When we know Him and love Him that way, it is easy to listen to Him, and we want to do what He says. We trust in God when we obey what Jesus shows us. When we do not know how to stand, we lean on Him. When we do not know where to go, we lean on Him. When we are in the dark, we lean on Jesus. That is why John refers to Him in his gospel as the "Paraclete." That means the One who comes alongside of us and bears us up. Those who know Jesus have had that happen many times in our lives. I pray that we all have this relationship with Jesus, so we do not grope in darkness.
