The Lofty Affairs of Our God
God is in charge of everything in the universe. It is His job to make sure everything works well and all things work together. That includes all of the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies flying through space. It includes all of the animals on this earth, along with all of the plants. Then, we get down to His affairs with 8 billion people on the earth right now. I would say God has a great amount of responsibility, wouldn't you? Job had an understanding of this task, and he asked his friends, "Who are we to tell God how to run His affairs?" Job knew that God was dealing with matters that are way over our heads. (Job 21:22) I am afraid many people do not have that perspective, but we all need it for life to go well.
God has to run His affairs in such a way that He considers the needs of every part of His creation and how they all fit together. He has to make sure that what He does for one plant doesn't interfere too much with another plant. That is true for all of the insects, animals, and people, too. If God was not able to have perfect knowledge of all things, He would cause many unintended consequences that would harm His creation. However, He is so wise and powerful that never happens. I don't believe any of us can say the same thing for our affairs in our own life. I know I have made many bad decisions without seeking God's will. I have seen many unintended consequences to my actions, even when I was trying to do the right thing in the right way. We have trouble running our own affairs, so why would we want to tell God how to run His? One answer is pride, of course. However, I notice that many people are very controlling, and they even want to try to control God. They get mad when He doesn't listen. Also, we tend to want our way, so we can have as much pleasure as possible, so we order our affairs according to our desires without thinking of others, being selfish. None of these traits make for a satisfying, fulfilling life. Let's let God run His affairs. Let's decide to follow His commands and directions, so we can live in a way that doesn't harm others or ourselves. I am sure that is the only way for everything to work together for our good and the good of others.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 22-24.
