Our Endlessly Patient God
Most of us have a serious problem with being patient. We do not want to wait for anything. This lack of patience extends to how we treat other people. We want them to do our will immediately, and if they don't, we are ready to retaliate against them. I am so glad that God doesn't have any problem being patient in any way. He is endlessly patient with us. I don't mean that His patience never comes to an end, but He always practices a huge amount of patience before He responds to our sins, because of His love, mercy, grace, and holiness. (Exodus 34:6,7) As God reminded Moses of all of these things on Mount Sinai, we need to be reminded of them, too.
When God passed in front of Moses on the mountain, He gave Moses and all of us a fantastic picture of Himself. Let these words sink in. God is God. He is the Lord, the Great I AM. He is a God of mercy and grace. God never punishes us as much as we deserve to be punished, and He always blesses us more than we deserve to be blessed. God is endlessly patient, because that is a part of who He is. He does not rush to judgment. He is not quick to become angry. This is true, because He has so much love for every one of us. He is deeply true, loyal for a thousand generations. God's faithfulness never fails either. He is constantly ready to forgive our iniquities, our rebellion, and our sin. However, God is holy, so He can't ignore sin. He holds all of us responsible for our sins, and the sins passed down to us from our fathers and grandfathers. However, since He is merciful, forgiving, and patient, we can break that chain of generational sins by turning to Him in confession and repentance. We can do that at any time, and He is ready to restore us because of His love and endless patience. What a Wonderful God!

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 37-39.
