Whether They Listen or Not

We are so afraid that we will upset other people by talking about the Lord. I know that we must not be overbearing or obnoxious in what we say or how we say it, but we really need to share the truth. We live in a broken world with many broken people. How will they hear the truth if we do not tell them? We should remember the admonition God gave to Ezekiel. (Ezekiel 2:3,5) We must not be silent, because our silence shows a lack of love for those who are on the broad road to hell. We must care enough to speak the truth in love.

The people of Ezekiel's day were very rebellious. They had ignored God's prophets for hundreds of years, so God finally sent them into exile. Even then, they did not listen well to God and His prophets. That is why God sent Ezekiel to deliver His message to those in Babylon. God loved them, and He wanted them to come to Him. He did not want them to have any excuse for not following Him. That is why God told Ezekiel to speak His truth to the people, whether they listened or not. He wanted them to know that a prophet had been among them.

I wonder of the people around us know that a prophet has been among them? Yes, we do serve as prophets, even if we do not have the gift of prophecy. We all have the responsibility to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. (Matthew 5:13-16) We are not responsible for changing people. Only God can do that. We are to deliver the message, so the Holy Spirit can convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Then, they can choose to receive the truth and trust Jesus. If we do not speak up, they have no hope to know the truth that will set them free and the Lord Who will grant them eternal life.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 3-5.
