Broken by the Lord
God has a way to ensure that our sins bring us to the end of our rope. He loves us too much to allow us to get away with our sins. That is why there are always consequences for our sins. God shows the unbelievers over and over again that He is alive, and their sins will separate them from Him. That way they are drawn to put their trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Believers can't escape the consequences of sin, either. Jeremiah saw this over his years as a prophet. God formed the transgressions of Israel into a yoke that He placed on their neck. He broke their strength. Then, He turned them over to those whom they could not withstand. (Lamentations 1:14) This is a lesson for all of us.
Why should we be diligent to stay away from sin? Our sins will not set us free to have a great life. Sins might be fun for a while, but then, they get worse and worse. We fall deeper and deeper into sin's grasp. God makes sure that the burden of sin weighs us down like a heavy yoke. Maybe, we have an addiction to drugs, alcohol, pornography, or gambling. Those addictions become a yoke formed by God to fasten around our neck, so we will see the damage we were doing to ourselves. Then, He takes away our strength, so that we can't make it on our own any more. All we see is our enemies all around us, and we are powerless to withstand them. This is all God bringing us to the end of our rope, so we will turn to Him. Some people are so hard hearted that they still do not repent and turn to God. I pray that is not true for you. Please, look up today, Turn from your way that is only bringing brokenness to your life. Let God give you His salvation from sins and the strength to live an abundant life in Christ.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Lamentation 2-4.
