Pride Leads to Destruction
Pride is one of the most damaging attitudes we can have. We need to do whatever it takes to eliminate pride from our life. Believe me, it is worth any and all efforts to forsake pride and gain genuine humility. If we do not take these measures, God will make sure to cut us down to size and humble us. That is what He did to the country of Moab. (Isaiah 16:6,14) We need to see what we can learn from their experience with God.
Moab was well known for their pride. They did not have just a little pride, but they were very proud. They were arrogant and haughty. Those words give us a picture of how much they thought of themselves. They had their nose so high up in the air, they had to look down on everyone around them. However, all of this was empty boasting. They did not measure up to the image they portrayed, at all. I have found that this type of pride leads to all kinds of conflict with other people. We are so self-centered that we have to have our way. We think our way is always the best way. If others do not do what we want we get upset, and we feel justified in being angry. Of course, none of that is correct. All of it is just the results of our pride.
Therefore, just like God brought Moab down in three years, and He took away their splendor, while leaving only a few people of their huge population, He will bring the proud person down. God hates pride. He is All-powerful, and All-wise. He deserves all of the glory. He knows that pride will lead us away from trusting Him, and it will destroy our relationships with other people, too. Therefore, He has to bring us down to give us a reason to repent and trust Him. He has to punish us, so we make up with other people we have hurt. That is why we need to eliminate pride, or else, we will be in store for God's destruction.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 17-20.
