Obedience

Our relationship with God is based on our faith in Him. The better our faith is, the closer our relationship. Faith without works is dead. Therefore, faith is seen in how obedient we are to Him. If we really trust the Lord fully, we will obey Him completely. The reason for this is that faith is our response to God. We do not get to do what we want, the way we want to do it. We trust Him, so we do it His way. That is faith. The Israelites showed this complete faith when they built the Tabernacle, doing everything just as God had commanded Moses. (Exodus 39:32) That should be a great lesson for all of us.

When was the last time we did "everything" God told us to do? I am afraid that sometimes we pick and choose what we want to do, and when we want to do it. That is not complete obedience. Remember, partial obedience is disobedience. We have to trust God enough to do just what He says, the way He says to do it. God always has a purpose for His timing and what He requests from us. If we miss either one, we miss out on the opportunity to do His will. That is why complete obedience is so important. I pray that we all will see how vital that is for our relationship with God and for those around us, as we serve the Lord the way that benefits them.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 40 and Leviticus 1-2.
