God's Promise of Deliverance
Before Moses ever went to demand that Pharaoh let God's people leave Egypt, God gave Moses a promise. God assured Moses that after He had worked His miracles, Pharaoh would let them all go free. (Exodus 3:20) That is how God always works. He develops a perfect plan to carry out His will first. In this case God was delivering Israel from slavery in Egypt, so they could inherit the land of Canaan. He knew just what He was going to do, so He made His promise of deliverance to Moses in advance. He has done much the same thing for all of us today.
God put together His plan of salvation before He created the world and formed Adam and Eve. He knew they would sin and need salvation. Therefore, He knew just the miracles He would work to set them free. He would give His Only-Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be the sacrifice for the sins of the world. Jesus was able to die for all of the sins of mankind, since He was God who became a man and lived a sinless life. He was the God/Man whose precious blood was the only payment that would atone for sin. Since God's plan was perfect, He was able to give the promise of deliverance in advance. God's angel told both Mary and Joseph to name the child Jesus, because He would save His people from their sins. We should all be so thankful that we have many promises of deliverance in the Bible, and we should confidently put our trust in Christ to save us from our sins.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 6-9.
