The Giver of Abundant Life
As I observe people around me and look in the media, I see many people are searching for the abundant life from the wrong source. Some are looking to material possessions to provide a great life. Others put their trust in various substances and chemicals to enhance their life. Still others think that the abundant life comes through their relationships with other people, upon whom they depend for happiness and fulfillment. History has shown us that these things never deliver the abundant life. In fact, they end up bringing more destruction than anything else. The very One who most people reject, Jesus Christ, is the Source of the abundant life.(John 10:10) Only He gives us the greatest life possible in this world and in the world to come.
Satan is a thief. He comes to people to steal them away from the Lord Jesus and the things that bring abundance. When we follow Satan, or his allies, the world and the flesh, we will end up dying without Christ, having no hope. In the process of life, he will steal our joy, our peace, and our contentment, as he leads us to the wrong concept of true love, too. All Satan, the world and the flesh deliver is false hopes and destruction. Jesus gives us life through entering a personal relationship with Him. His purpose is to lead us to have the abundant life. He does not want to hurt us, deprive us, or discourage us. He knows what we really need to be happy and fulfilled. All we have to do is to listen to Him and His Word, so we pursue what He has for us. The results are amazing. We get a quality of life that we could never have imagined. We may not have much money, but we are very rich. We won't need any substances or chemicals to feel great. Our relationship with Jesus will bring us so much more joy than any human relationship can bring. That relationship will only enhance our human relationships, too. I pray that all of us will find that abundant life in Jesus, instead of going the way of this world.
Tomorrow, I intend to read John 12-14.
