God Alone Acts on Our Behalf
God is totally unique. There is no god that compares to Him. First of all, since He is alive, we can hear from Him and even see Him with our eyes. Secondly, He is the Only God who acts for those who wait for Him. (Isaiah 64:4) I would say that is a good reason to wait upon the Lord, wouldn't you?
God is so personal and ready to reveal Himself to us. When we pray to Him, if we listen for Him to reply, He will. He will show Himself to us in different ways, too. We may not see His face or His form, but we can see clearly what He is doing around us. That makes God superior to all of the gods of this world. However, the thing that really sets Him apart is the fact that He looks for those who are waiting upon Him, and He acts for them. When we wait on the Lord, we pray expectantly for Him to intervene in our lives in some way. We do not barge ahead of Him by trying to do things ourselves, and we do not lag behind Him by failing to do what He has told us to do. We are simply looking for how He wants us to proceed in our lives, and when we hear from Him or see what He wants us to do, then, we move in obedience. It is at that point He acts for us, because He is so pleased we have waited upon Him. God loves His obedient children and blesses them.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 1-4.
