Be Strong; Fear Not!
Many people have anxious hearts. They tend to worry about the things that bother them. Sometimes, those things are serious, such as being attacked by enemies, as in the case of Israel in Isaiah's day. However, some people worry over the very insignificant things, as well. Either way, God says to all of us, "Be strong; fear not!" Then, He explains the basis for our strength and lack of fear. (Isaiah 35:4) This should be a good lesson for many of us.
The basis for our peace, as believers, is that God will come and save us. We do not have to trust in our own strength to do anything. He can and will help us overcome any enemy or trial, and He will give us peace in the process. However, we have to trust Him and take Him at His word. We are not to take vengeance on our enemies or anyone else, because vengeance belongs to the Lord. He knows just how to come in power to remove that enemy. Also, He knows how to repay everyone involved. Those who have trusted get rewarded with good, but those who have done the attacking will be rewarded with His punishment. God is always faithful to take care of His own, as we trust in His faithfulness and power. When we do that, we can truly be strong and fear not. Try out the Lord. He means just what He says.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 37-39.
