Increasing in Wisdom and Learning
How do we increase in wisdom? Yes, we read God's Word and ask Him to show us His character and ways. However, the wise person will also receive instruction from other wise people. Then, he will be even wiser. (Proverbs 9:9) A foolish person will do just the opposite. He will reject instruction, thinking he knows enough already. Also a righteous person desires to be taught more and more, so he receives teaching and increases in learning continually. What what category would you put your self in?
Part of being wise is knowing that we do not know everything. It is being humble because we are not stubborn with pride, so we will receive instruction. Then, when we receive it, we add it to the wisdom we already have, and we keep accumulating more wisdom the longer we live. Part of being righteous is knowing that we still sin and fail to follow God's way. Therefore, we know we always have more to learn. This leads us to be lifelong learners. We never get complacent, thinking we are righteous enough. We want to continue to grow into the image of Christ as long as we live on this earth. We bring great pleasure to the Lord Jesus when He sees us increasing in wisdom and in learning constantly. He knows that will benefit us and His kingdom's work.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Proverbs 10-12.
