Until the Storms Pass By

We all have storms that come into our lives. What do we do when a storm  heads our way? That is a very important question for each of us to answer before the storm comes. If we already know what we will do, we can do it immediately and miss the damage of the storm. If not, we can be hurt by the storm, and the effects may last for a long time. David had decided what he would do until the storms of destruction passed by in his life. (Psalm 57:1) I believe his solution is the best option we have.

Some people worry about storms before they come. Worry doesn't do any good. In fact, it makes everything worse. It can even make the storms seem much worse than they really are. Other people try to figure out the best way to navigate through the storm, so they just go plowing ahead. That is a good way to get hurt badly in the destructive storms of life. The other alternative is to run to the Lord, asking for His mercy and taking refuge in Him. We should ask for mercy, because sometimes we have done something ourselves to bring on the storm. We need for God to help us, even though we deserve to be hit by the storm. Since we belong to Him, He will have mercy on us and allow us to take shelter under His wings until the storm passes by. There is no safer place than under the wings of the Almighty God. That is where we all need to be, and we will come out unscathed from the storms of life.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 58-60.
