Blessed with No Anxiety, Only Continuous Fruit
Most people want to be blessed, but they do not realize the source of real blessing. God is the Source of every worthwhile blessing in life. We must realize that and turn to Him before we can be truly blessed. However, there is one more key that Jeremiah reveals to us. (Jeremiah 17:7,8) Let's take a moment to see what He has told us.
A person who trusts in the Lord is blessed. We trust Him when we depend upon Him. Our trust is our faith in Him. However, it is more than that. Blessed is the person whose trust is the Lord. In other words, they trust no one but the Lord. They depend on Him for everything in life. When that happens, a remarkable change takes place. That person becomes like a tree planted by a stream, whose roots run along the stream, so they always have a supply of water to nourish the tree. That person will not fear when the heat comes. He or she will not even be anxious in a year of drought. Instead, their leaves will be green, and they will not cease to bear fruit. What a picture of a blessed person.
Therefore, I would ask us all. Are we afraid of anything, besides God? Are we anxious about the situations of our lives? If we answer yes, there is something lacking in our trust. We need to make sure we are trusting only in the Lord. Also, are we bearing fruit continuously? If not, that is a sign of a problem, too. Let's do all we can to make sure our trust is the Lord, nothing else.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 20-22.
