God's Work is Permanent and Unchangeable

Everything in this world is changing. All of the things that we do are subject to go out of date or to be changed by someone who comes after us. God is totally different. When God works, it lasts forever. No one can add to it or take from it. His works are perfect. He does that so we can see His work, and fear Him. (Ecclesiastes 3:14) I hope all of us have noticed that is how God works in us.

Ecclesiastes is the report of Solomon after he set his heart to search out wisdom and folly or pleasure. In all that he did, he found vanity. The things of this world pass away. He could be wise and make a lot of money, but after he died what would happen to all for which he labored? There was no way to tell. He could enjoy all types of pleasure, but there was no lasting profit from that either. Therefore, Solomon came to see that the only stable things in this world were the things God did. That turned his heart to respect God greatly or fear Him. He realized that he was nothing, and he could do nothing compared to God. If Solomon concluded that, how much more should that apply to us. He was the wisest man ever and one of the richest men, too. Compared to him, we have nothing, and we have done nothing.

I hope we will all ready this book to the very end and see what Solomon found out. It is very profound. It is something we should learn now, instead of having to wait until we are almost gone from this world.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ecclesiastes 4-7.
