Giving God the Glory
How often do you take credit for the good things that happen in your life? It is easy to do, because we all have pride, and it can rise up to make us think we have accomplished great things by our own intellect and abilities. Gideon learned that God can't bless us when we feel that way. God showed him that He would only bless, if He received the glory due His name. (Judges 7:2) We all need to keep this in mind every day.
God is due all of the credit for everything good that happens to us and in our world. It is true that without Him we can do nothing.(John 15:5) Therefore, if we are able to accomplish anything in life, it is because He gave us the ability and direction to do it. Therefore, we must give Him all of the credit or the glory for what He accomplished in and through us. Then, He is able to bless to the fullest, since people will be drawn to Him, seeing His power and goodness in His actions.
We should all deflect all of the glory for anything good from ourselves to the Lord. That is a great way to share a witness at work or in public places. Let people know the Lord deserves the praise, not you. That will make them think about themselves and whether they would give God the glory or not. That thinking might be the start of seeing them come to know Christ.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Judges 9-11.
