Perfect and Complete in All the Will of God
How many believers do you know who are perfect and complete in all the will of God? (Colossians 4:12) When we read the New Testament, we see that is God's will for every believer. (Matthew 5:48; Romans 8:29:Ephesians 4:11-16; II Timothy 3:16,17) Why do we not see this happen as much as we should? I believe this is a question for all believers to seriously consider.
When Paul sent greetings to the church at Colosse from one of their pastors or elders, he included a description of the ministry of Epaphras. This bondservant of Christ was "always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may be perfect and complete in all the will of God." Therefore, we see that He knew God's purpose, and he prayed for God to accomplish that purpose in every member of the church. Please, understand that the word perfect means "mature." We will never be without sin, but we can and should all be mature spiritually and complete, so that we can be all God wants us to be and do all God wants us to do. I am sure Epaphras prayed and then, he listened to God's instruction, so he could do whatever God wanted him to do to lead his people to be perfect and complete.
I pray that all of us would have this as our goal, and we would pray and do all God shows us. Then, I pray that we would disciple other believers to do the same thing. If we all became mature and complete in all the will of God and helped others do the same thing, just think of the impact it would have on our church, our community, and our world.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Thessalonians 2-4.
