What God Requires of Believers

God has definite expectations for His children just like any good parent. Often, we misunderstand what He wants from us. Micah laid it out very clearly, so we need to pay attention to what he said. (Micah 6:8)

God is watching to see if we "do justly." The word just means righteous. Therefore, we are to live righteous lives before God and others. He lays it out for us in His Word, but basically we are to be Christlike in all of our attitudes and actions. It is becoming holy, so that we do not do the wrong things, and we do the right things.

We are to "love mercy." Mercy is not giving someone all of the punishment he or she deserves. God is always merciful, so we should be merciful, too. We should be more strict on ourselves than we are on others, giving them the benefit of the doubt.

God wants us to walk humbly with Him every day. We do not practice a religion. We have a relationship with the One True God. That requires daily communication with Him and obedience to what He says to us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Micah 7 and Nahum 1-2.
