God Knows Every Word
Many people have a big problem with how they talk. They say things that are not appropriate. They speak when they should be silent. They tell others things that should not be told. The tongue causes much grief for us and for others. I believe David gave us a great truth which should help us to watch our words. (Psalm 139:4) See what you think about this truth.
God knows every word that we speak, as it is on our tongue, and as it goes out of our mouth. There is nothing we say that is kept secret. God examines every word, and we will be judged by the words we say. The reason our words are of such interest to God is that our words come from our heart. God looks at the heart, so He gets a good look by listening to our words. Hateful, negative, slanderous words, reveal a heart full of hate and anger. However, when we speak kindly, and we build up others, God sees that we have love in our hearts. What do your words say about your heart?
Often, I pass by a group of people only to have them start whispering. Sometimes, they even say, "Quiet, the preacher is coming." I feel compelled to remind them that God hears what they are saying, even if I don't. I hope each time that they will be deterred from saying the wrong words, because they know God knows every one of them, and He never forgets.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 143-146.
