Escaping the Snare of the Fowler
There are some experiences in life that are very stressful. When a powerful person tries to lay a snare for you and trap you for the purpose of hurting you or destroying you, it is a very stressful time. David knew that well, as he was pursued by King Saul and other powerful people. I have experienced that, too, so I can relate well to the relief that David felt when God delivered him from the snare set for him. (Psalm 124:7,8) It is always a miracle that deserves recognizing the gracious hand of God in our lives.
People are vindictive. They get angry, and they want their way. Sometimes, they seek more power. Perhaps, they have been hurt in the past, and their bitterness causes them to lash out at others. Whatever the cause, people seek to bring others down, and they think it will help them feel better or do better. That is what causes them to set traps for others. They carefully plan and scheme to do harm. However, God hates that sin, and He acts to protect the righteous from the snares laid for them. In those times when we would be powerless to protect ourselves and to escape, our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He is able, and He is willing to come to our aid. Our enemies leave dejected and amazed that the snare is broken, and we have escaped. What a feeling of relief! What a time to praise the Lord!
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 127-129.
