A Recipe for Disaster
Because the Northern Kingdom of Israel left the commandments of God and worshiped many idols, God totally removed them from His sight by having Assyria take them into exile. (II Kings 17:16,18) God gave them every opportunity to listen to His Prophets and to return to Him, but they refused. Also, they practiced every kind of idolatry they encountered. Both of these things caused God to be so angry that He destroyed them as a country. Assyria resettled people from other parts of their kingdom there, so that the new country of Samaria was born. We need to learn this lesson in America today.
I know that America is not a theocracy, and we are not God's people, like Israel was then. However, we see the character of God when people who know His commands willfully leave His commands to pursue other gods and even worship the host of heaven. God gets angry with sin, and He tries to be as merciful as He can be. However, there is a point at which, the wrath of God is poured out because of the sin and rebellion of those who have known the truth, but rejected it.
I believe we are seeing this in America today. Even many churches are forsaking the commands of God and turning to secular humanism, as well as other false beliefs. If we do not have an awakening in America, it would seem that soon we will experience the full wrath of God, and our country will be turned into a whole different country than it was founded to be. Please, join me in praying for that awakening.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 18-20.
