Mixing Error with Truth
God's people have always had a problem mixing error with truth. That is why Moses had to instruct the Israelites about avoiding the pagan practices of the people of the Promised land before they went in to conquer it. (Deuteronomy 18:10,11) They knew well what God expected of them, but they would be tempted to mix in things that were evil. The same thing happens with believers today, so we need to heed what God's Word says here.
We do not have Molech today as a god to whom we might sacrifice our children by burning them to death, but we do have abortion, in which people sacrifice children for their own agenda in life. We have witchcraft all around us in various forms, as well as people who claim to tell our future. All of these are not from the Lord, but they are tricks of Satan to get us away from God's way. Also, we have people who practice forms of spiritism and who claim to contact the dead. When these mediums tell us they are contacting a person, it is really a demon disguised as that person to mislead us. Stay away from anything like the list of things in these verses, and be faithful to God's Word. After all, God is Able, and He is Faithful, so we need nothing but the Lord Jesus Christ to meet our needs and direct us in life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 20-22.
