Turning the World Upside Down
In Thessalonica Paul and Silas received one of the best compliments that could have been given to them. It came from those who opposed them. Because it came from them, we can be sure it was a sincere compliment. They said that they "had turned the world upside down." (Acts 17:6) Wow! I pray that we could be accused of doing the same thing today.
The people who were against Paul and Silas were upset because they were bringing people to Christ and teaching the truth, so that people were not worshiping idols, and their thinking was changed. Consequently, they changed their actions, habits, and outlook on life, too. The non-Christians thought that was all wrong, so they said they had turned the world upside down. In reality, the world is opposed to God and His ways. Therefore, those who live by this world's ways are the ones who have it all upside down. Paul and Silas were turning things right-side up. However, to do that they had to turn the world upside down.
With all that is going on around us today, our world is very upside down. We need to pray that God would empower us and guide us to turn our world upside down, so we can be right-side up, too.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 19-22
