Ready to Die for the Name of the Lord Jesus
Paul was just a human being like the rest of us, but he had a very strong commitment to doing God's will, whatever it took. Even when he knew that returning to Jerusalem would mean that he would be put in prison, he not only went there, but he announced to those who were trying to stop him that he was ready to die for the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 21:13) That type of faith in Jesus should be the norm and not the exception.
Jesus died for us, so that we could have our sins forgiven and be adopted into God's family. Before His death, He announced to His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them, so that where He was, they would be, too. In other words, He was preparing a place for us in Heaven with Him for eternity. Now, He commands us to be good witnesses for Him in this world, so that as many people as possible may come to know Him. The least we can do is to be willing to die for Him, as He died for us, so that others may not be sent to Hell for eternity.
How about you? Are you ready to suffer for Jesus? Are you willing to go to jail for His name's sake? If it comes down to being a martyr, would you be true to Him? We all need to ask ourselves those questions, so that we can make sure our hearts are fully resting in Him. That is the only life worthy of the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 23-26
