A Stronghold in the Day of Trouble
Trouble is a part of life here on earth. None of us escape trouble. We have good days and bad days. The main difference is that some of us have a Stronghold to Whom we can run in the day of trouble. (Nahum 1:7) Do you have that Stronghold? There is one condition for being able to run into that safe place.
A stronghold was a fortress where a person could be safe from attacks and trouble. Usually people did not live in strongholds all of the time. They went there when an enemy was approaching or when they had a great need. They would run quickly through the gates to safety. At every gate there was a gate-keeper. He would exclude people who were not supposed to enter the stronghold. As I read this assuring verse, I know beyond a doubt that the Lord is good, and He is a Stronghold in the day of trouble. However, the end of the verse is the key condition. He knows those who trust Him. It is only the ones who have placed their faith and trust in Him, who can enter the Stronghold when they have trouble.
Therefore, if you have not experienced the Lord as your Stronghold, please, check your heart. Make sure that true faith in the Lord Jesus resides there. I am speaking about a faith that shows through in your actions. Then, whenever you need safety from the troubles of life, you can run to reside in His mighty presence. He will guide you and protect you according to His will in whatever comes.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Nahum 3 and Habakkuk 1-3.
