The Glory of the Lord filled the Temple
God longs to display His glory, so people can be drawn to a relationship with Him. In the Old Testament the glory of the Lord filled the temple when Solomon prayed to dedicate it to God. Now, the bodies of believers are the temples of the Holy Spirit. Ezekiel had a vision of the Millenial temple, and the glory of the Lord came to fill it, too. (Ezekiel 43:4,5) I believe there is a lesson for us in this fact.
When the glory of the Lord filled the temple it was the overwhelming presence of God, and people could not even come near for a time. This was God showing His power and His desire to dwell with people. Now that we are His temple, and we have His Spirit, I believe He wants to display His glory through us. However, we must be totally filled with the Spirit in order for the glory of God to be apparent to those around us. For that to happen we have to be cleansed from sin and consecrated to God like the temple was. Therefore, we must confess our sins and present ourselves completely to God for His service. When we do that the glory of the Lord fills us, too, so that others see a real difference in us. This helps draws them to the Lord, so they can know Him, too.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 45-47.
