The Correct Attitude for Prayer
Many people do not understand prayer. They think that they pray to get what they want, and they pray with an attitude of pride. They believe they deserve to get what they want, because they are worthy. Actually, that is directly opposed to the correct attitude to have in prayer. Daniel knew how to pray well, and his example is a great one for all of us. (Daniel 10:12)
When Daniel prayed he set his heart to understand the will of God. He was not asking selfishly for something he was set on. His heart was set on knowing what God had for Him. Prayer is about knowing God's will, not about getting our will.
Also, when Daniel prayed he humbled himself before the Lord. There was no pride, only submission to the All-powerful God. Humility realizes that we can do nothing without the Lord. When we pray in humility, God hears us, and He loves to answer us according to His will.
That is what happened to Daniel. As soon as he began to set his heart to understand, and he humbled himself before the Lord, God sent the answer to his prayer. God will do the same thing for us, if we will pray with the correct attitude.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 11-12 and Hosea 1.
