Ten Times Better
There are benefits for those who trust the Lord and do not compromise. We see this clearly with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. These three Hebrew young men were taken to Babylon in the exile, so the king could teach them, and they could serve in his court. However, these Hebrews would not eat the king's food or drink his wine, so they would not defile themselves. God honored that commitment, and they were found to be ten times better than any of the king's magicians and astrologers in matters of wisdom and understanding. God can do the same for us.
All true wisdom and understanding come from God. He gives it to those who seek Him and are faithful to follow Him. If we will not compromise, but we will fully follow the Lord, learning His Word, and seeking Him, He will give us His wisdom and understanding, too. He promises that. (James 1:5) However, James makes it clear that we must ask for it in faith, not wavering in our commitment to the Lord. I urge each of us to make this commitment and to receive God's wisdom, so we can show others God's wisdom like Daniel did, and they can come to know the Lord.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 3-6.
