Cast Out Of Heaven

I can't imagine anything any worse than being cast out of heaven after being God's special angel around His throne. That is what happened to Lucifer, and He became Satan or the Devil. (Ezekiel 28:16) Let's look at some of the details of this account of why Lucifer was cast out of heaven, so we can learn what not to do ourselves.

Lucifer seems to have been an anointed Cherub, who led the worship around the throne of God. He was beautiful in his appearance and talented in his musical ability. Since he was one of the main leaders, he did an "abundance of trading." In other words, he told the other angels what to do and worked out the details of worship around the throne. This led him to feel very important, so that pride arose in his heart. Then, violence filled his heart, too, because he was willing to rebel against God. Of course, this led to the first sin. We must stay away from feeling important, realizing that without God we are nothing. Then, we will not have pride that leads to violence or rebellion.

After his sin, Lucifer was thrown out of heaven. He was destroyed, because he was no longer a beautiful angel, but an ugly creature, scarred by God because of his sin. No longer would he enjoy the beauty of heaven and the worship around God's glorious throne. Our sins destroy us from becoming all God wants us to be, too. We are kept away from close fellowship with Him, and our worship is greatly hindered. Please, do not let this progression happen to you. It is never worth the consequences.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 32-35.
