God's Preservation of Israel
The Jewish people have rebelled against God over and over again, but He has continued to preserve them, because they are special to Him, and they will play a role in the end of time. After the fall of Jerusalem, they still did not trust the Lord, and they went down to Egypt for protection. God punished the ones who went, and a few returned. Also, those who went into exile in Babylon returned to Judah and Jerusalem. God once again gave them rest and ease, so that they were not afraid of anyone. (Jeremiah 46:27) That almost sounds like today, doesn't it?
Once again, God has gathered the Jews back to Israel. Even though they are surrounded by enemies who would destroy them, they are basically at rest, at ease, and they are not afraid of anyone. In fact, they are one of the few countries in the world standing up against the terrorists. I believe it is the supernatural power of God preserving them for their role at the end of time on this earth. Even though many of them are not trusting Christ as Lord and Savior yet, one day they will. They will see how all of the Old Testament sacrifices and feasts were to point them to Jesus. They will receive the things promised to them by God in the Old Testament, because God is always faithful to keep His promises. All of this should cause people to see the hand of God working in this world and turn to Jesus Christ as Lord.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 47-49.
