Afflictions Can Be Good For Us
The psalmist reminds us of something that is very important. We may learn God's statutes because of our afflictions. (Psalm 119:71) It is not automatic, but it is why God allows afflictions to come into our lives.
None of us like pain and problems, but they can be good for us. It all depends on what we do when the troubles come. If we stop to pray and read God's Word to find out what we need to do, then, we will learn God's statutes from our experiences, and that is the best way to learn. If we just get mad or sad, then, we will miss what we could have learned, and we will continue to do the wrong things over and over.
I hope this verse will help us change our attitude toward afflictions and cause us to learn God's laws. Then, we can grow in the Lord to be strong and to live a blameless life before the Lord and others.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalm 119:81- 121.
