Lead Me to The Rock
Imagine you are at the beach swimming when the waves begin to roar, and the tide shifts. The water becomes much deeper, so that you can no longer touch the bottom, and you are struggling to stay afloat in the rough sea. You are overwhelmed by the power of the water. Suddenly, you hear a voice directing you to look up, and you see a huge rock close to you. You make your way to the rock, and climb out of the turbulent waves. You are safe and no longer overwhelmed, because of the stability of this rock. That is the picture David paints for us in Psalm 61:1,2. We all have been overwhelmed in life, and we all need to learn what David learned.
Life is hard. At times, all we can do is cry out to God for help. Our strength is gone, and our heart is overwhelmed, as well. It is then, we must seek the Lord and ask for His leadership. We need that rock that is so much bigger than we are. That Rock is Jesus. When we crawl into His arms, we are safe from the struggle, and we are refreshed. The storm may not vanish, but we receive what we need to fight another day. Our heart is warmed and filled with His love. We know we can make it with His presence. Thank You Lord for the Rock that is higher than I.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 63-65.
