Real Faith Takes Risks
Faith is not a feeling. Faith is taking action because we trust God. Faith is not just hoping for what we want. Faith is doing what God says in His Word or what He leads us to do. Jonathan was showing real faith when he took the risk to go against the enemy with his armor bearer.(I Samuel 14:6) He knew that God wanted to give them the victory, so when God gave him the sign He had told him, he believed God and attacked. This risk led to great victory. We need to see this in our lives.
God can give victory by many or by few. He can enable us to do whatever He wants us to do. However, if we never take a risk, we will not need His help. If we only do what we can do on our own that is not faith in God. That is trusting in ourselves. Once we hear from God, we set out to do His will, no matter the risk. Then, we can and will see His great power like Jonathan did.
I want to urge all of us to be willing to have faith that takes risks for the Lord. Then, let's see what great victories He accomplishes through us.
Tomorrow, I intend to read I Samuel 15-17.
