Physical Exhaustion

When we are physically exhausted, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to be effective in our lives. The reason for this truth is that we are body, soul, and spirit. When the body is exhausted it adversely effects the soul, which is our mind, will, and emotions, as well as, our spirit, which is the part of us that relates to God. When Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, came to see him, he was being exhausted daily by being the only judge of two million people. He quickly told him that was not good, because it was wearing him and the people out, as they had to stand in line so long.(Exodus 18:17,18) Then, he gave him the remedy.

Moses was to delegate the easy cases to wise men, whom he could teach all of the laws of God. Then, he could rest and have time for the harder cases. This is very important for all of us. God made us with the need for rest. If our schedule is too busy for rest, it will hurt us physically and spiritually. We must have enough sleep, and we must have time to be with the Lord to receive spiritual rest.(Isaiah 40:29-31; Matthew 11:28-30) We can't get rest from video games, television, movies, or music. Rest comes by sound sleep and time with the Lord. If our schedule does not allow for those two things, we will suffer greatly. If we find ourselves in that position, it is not God's will, at least, for a long period of time. Therefore, we should pray for his solution, and He will show us. God does not want us to be physically exhausted all of the time.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 20-22.
