All

Sometimes the simple insights are the best. When it comes to Noah, I believe we would all agree that he was one of the most blessed people ever. God saved him and his family from a flood that killed everyone else because of their persistent, flagrant sins. Noah found "grace" in God's eyes. Why was that true? I believe it was simple. God knew he would do "all" He commanded him to do, not just part of it.(Genesis 6:22) God blesses that type of person, so we ought to decide to do all God has commanded us to do.

Noah's task was not easy. He had to go against everyone around Him and listen to God. He had to build a huge boat in a desert. It took him about 100 years to accomplish his work. However, he was faithful to do it all, even down to gathering up all of the animals and living in that ark with them for a year. He must have had a single-minded faith to do all God told him to do.

What about us? We have God's Word, the Bible. There are many things that God tells us in His Word that we are to do. Do we have a mind to do "all" of them, or just the ones we like or the easy ones? If we do not have a heart and mind to be fully obedient to God like Noah, He can't bless us, as he did Noah. It is that simple.

Therefore, I would urge each of us to start 2015 by taking an inventory of all we know God has told us to do. Then, see what we are not already doing. Repent of not doing those things, and change your schedule and lifestyle to include all that God has commanded us. Then, we will see the blessings of God in our lives. It is not that we will not have a flood or a fire, but God will direct us, protect us, and provide for us through all that comes our way.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 8-11.
