A Flood of Justice and Righteousness
God hates religion. He despises empty rituals. God can't stand people with divided hearts, who try to worship Him and idols. Luke-warm hearts make Him feel like throwing up. So what does He desire? God wants to see justice run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.(Amos 5:24) He wants a flood of justice and righteousness from His people. That brings a smile to God's face and His favor upon us.
Justice is acting like God wants us to act toward other people. Righteousness is acting like God wants us to act toward Him. It can't be fake. It has to be sincere and heart-felt. It needs to flood out of our hearts because of our love for Him and not be slowed down or quenched by anything people or the Devil can throw at us. It should come like a flood. Have you ever tried to hold water back or to stop a mighty stream? It is one of the most difficult things to do in this world. God knows if we have a full commitment to Him and His will that is exactly what will break out, and no one will be able to stop it. Let's make that commitment to God as individuals, as families, as churches, and see what happens.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Amos 7-9.
