Don't Blame God
God gets blamed for all kinds of things. People blame God for not caring and not answering their prayers. They think when they ask Him something, He should jump quickly and do just what they want. That doesn't always happen. In fact, it doesn't happen very often for two reasons. We are asking for the wrong thing, or there is something else we need to ask for first, before He will answer that request.(Isaiah 59:1,2) If your sins go unconfessed, and He has not cleansed them from your life, then, you are separated from God because of those sins, and He will not hear your prayers, until you get your sins taken care of. Let me explain.
God is very kind, patient, and merciful. However, God hates sin, and He has nothing to do with sin. He would never encourage us to sin or overlook our sins as something not very important. The wages or payment for sin is death. Sin brings destruction. Therefore, God expects His children to hate sin, too. When we sin, we are still His children, but we are separated from having a close relationship with Him until we confess our sins.(I John 1:9) It is really very simple. God has priorities. Your relationship with Him comes before everything else. If that is not right, He doesn't want to talk about anything else, until that problem is resolved. As I have said so many times, if He blessed us while we were sinning or when we have unconfessed sins, He would be encouraging us to sin by rewarding us before we made things right with Him.
Let me give an example. A husband deeply hurts his wife before he leaves for work in the morning by saying hateful things and being very uncaring about the needs of his wife. However, he doesn't call her all day. He doesn't apologize for what he did. Then, he comes home, and he asks his wife to do a huge favor for him. He wants to act like everything is just fine, and he wants her to fulfill that request for a huge favor. How is the wife going to react? Most of the time, she is not going to be very friendly to him and do what he wants, until he apologizes. It is the same way with God. Our sins separate us from Him. We have to get right before He will move on to something less important. I hope that helps us not to blame God when our prayers go unanswered.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 63-66.
