Search Me, O God
It is very difficult for us to be objective about ourselves. We tend to be very lenient on ourselves and very strict with others. It ought to be the other way around. The first Person we need to ask to give us an objective perspective of how we are doing is God.(Psalm 139:23,24) Since He knows all and sees all, He will be very accurate in His assessment, but He will also be very loving, especially if we are seeking His input. Let's see just what we need to do when we approach the Lord for His insights.
We need to ask God to search our hearts, our inmost being. We ask Him to try us or test us, so we can see our anxieties, the things that make us nervous or scared because we can't handle them well. Then, we show Him that we truly want to see any wicked ways we have, any sins, so we can confess them, repent of them, and be cleansed from them. Finally, His assessment would not be complete without His instructions in how to live in His way, the way everlasting, I would say that is pretty thorough, wouldn't you?
Now, we just have to do it, sincerely and in a state of mind and heart that is ready to obey, no matter what the Lord says. We need to do it often, and the more we do this, even daily, the closer we can walk with the Lord and enjoy His peace, joy, and love.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 142-144.
