The Valley of Decision
When was the last time you were in the valley of decision in your life? The prophet Joel uses this phrase to describe a huge battle that will be fought against Israel at the end of time.(Joel 3:14) However, the principles in this verse need to be applied in our lives when we face significant decisions.
Multitudes are in the valley of decision every day. We have to make decisions that will affect our lives and the lives of those in our families. What will we do? One thing is certain; no one can make the decision for us. Sometimes, people want to put off decisions, but that is not a wise course of action, when it is time for action. We must hear from the Lord and go ahead and do the right thing, even if it is hard.
The main reason for the urgency is that "the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision." The day of the Lord is not just the end of time or the Second Coming of Christ. The day of the Lord is used for anytime the Lord comes to us, and we have a deadline. When He comes, we are either with Him or against Him. We are either trusting in Him or in someone or something else. There is no middle ground when the Lord shows up. The valley of decision is our chance to prepare for the day of the Lord for us. We must not put off deciding, and we must decide to trust Him. That is our only hope.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Amos 3-6.
