Stop the In-fighting and Power Struggles
This passage of Scripture makes me so sad, because we see the result of in-fighting among brothers and the power struggles over who will be in charge.(II Samuel 2:26) Unfortunately, it is still happening every day in most families and church families. We need to bring it to an end, because it never honors God, and it does bring bitterness in the end.
Pride leads people to get all they can. It makes people greedy for stuff and power. It leads us to fight against our physical brothers and sisters, as well as our spiritual brothers and sisters. We need to put aside the pride and communicate. We need to pray for God's will and seek it together. We must stop fighting with other people. It does not bring about God's will in His way.
I am so glad that I am pastor of a church family where we do not fight each other and people are not concerned about who has the power. At NHBC we know it is Jesus' church, so He is the Head. We only need to listen to Him and work together to do His will. I have said it several times lately, but I will say it again, "It is so nice to be the pastor of a church family that wants to do God's will, not our own will." It brings joy and honor to the Lord. It is a good witness to those around us, and it is not bitter in the end.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Samuel 4-6.
