Special Strength From God
Caleb is a great example of God giving special strength to a person. Caleb and Joshua were the two spies who went into the Promised land who knew God could help the people conquer the land. They stood against those who did not believe it was possible. Because of that faithfulness, God promised Caleb the part of the land he spied out, which was the mountain area around Hebron. God gave Caleb special strength to take this land.(Joshua 14:11) Even though he was 85 years old, God had preserved the strength he had when he was 40 years old. Isn't that amazing?
When God gives us a promise, He will always give us whatever we need to receive the promise. All we have to do is to "wholly follow" Him the way Caleb did. God gives us physical strength or anything else we need. With God all things are possible.
Think about this for a minute. When God leads two people to get married, He joins them together, and if they wholly follow Him, He supplies what they need to thrive in their marriage. When God leads a couple to have a child, He supplies the strength, if they are fully faithful to Him. When God leads a person to go to college or pursue a certain career, He is there to supply whatever is needed. Caleb had to defeat giants to take Hebron, but God gave him the strength. I am sure it was not easy. However, with God's special strength he was up to the task. The same is true for all of us today. I pray we will wholly follow the Lord and receive His special strength for our lives.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 15-17.
