Face To Face
We live in an increasingly impersonal society. We send text messages and emails, instead of calling. We call people, instead of talking to them in person. However, there are times, even today, when we hear someone say, " I do not want to talk on the phone, I want to speak with them face to face." That is how God related to Moses, up close and personal.(Deuteronomy 34:10)
The fact that Moses had such a close relationship with God is stated several times in the Bible. God spoke to Him face to face on the mountain. He came to Him in the cloud at the tabernacle. Moses' face even glowed when he came down from the mountain, because his skin absorbed the radiant glory of God. Isn't that amazing? However, now we have the opportunity to have an even closer relationship with God than Moses. Yes, that is true. God wants every believer to relate to Him face to face through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the Holy Spirit in our lives.
People ask me how they can know God is speaking to them. I tell them that they can know it is God the same way they know it is me when I speak to them. They can recognize my voice after hearing it a while. We can recognize God's voice when we have heard Him for a while. We can know Him. In a real sense, we can see His face, not physically, but just as clear. We know when He is frowning at us and when we have brought a smile to His face. We can tell when He is raising His voice or speaking very softly and tenderly. We can and should have a close personal relationship with God like Moses, since we live in the New Covenant.
I just finished my "unhurried time" with Him for today. We spoke face to face. It is a precious and awesome time for me each day. I highly recommend it to each of you. I am about to take a drive in my little truck, and instead of listening to the radio, I am going to talk with Him face to face some more. After all, He told us to pray without ceasing. The great thing about God is that He is not bound by space and time, so all of us can be talking with Him face to face 24/7. Believe me, that is what He wants us all to do.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 1-3.
