We Can Run, but We Can't Hide.
God knows where we live, and He knows what we have done. There is no escaping our sin. We will be found and punished.(Numbers 32:23) I am not saying this for little children, but for us, as adults. We must not deceive ourselves into thinking that sin does not have serious consequences.
I am afraid that many people, even believers, think that all they need to do is to ask God to forgive a particular sin, and not only will the sin be forgiven, but there will be no consequences, as well. The Bible does not support that belief. God always punishes sin in some way. If He did not, He would not be holy. Yes, He acts in mercy, so the punishment is not as bad as it might have been, but it is still there. There is no escaping.
This is why we must be holy. We must obey God in love, so that we do not commit sins of commission and sins of omission. Then, we come to know what life is like when we enjoy God's favor without His punishment. We are never fully without sin, while we are here on earth. However, our goal must be to grow closer and closer to the image of Jesus and farther and farther away from sin. Then, we experience what life is intended to be.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 35-36 and Deuteronomy 1-2.
