Keeping Our Vows
It is Valentine's Day, so it is appropriate to think about keeping our vows. How many vows or promises have you made to God in your life? How are you doing on keeping those vows? God expects us to keep all of them.(Numbers 30:2) It is important for us to be people of integrity who keep our word, especially our word to God.
I guess our most obvious vow is the marriage vow, which we make before the Lord. We vow to love our spouse until death parts us. As a part of the vow, often, we promise to honor them and to serve them in sickness and in health, in adversity and in prosperity. I pray that we are keeping that most sacred vow and all of the other vows we have made to God.
The Bible is clear. One day, we will give an account of our lives to the Lord. We will give an account of every idle word we have spoken. We must make sure that our vows are not idle words. It will be a sad time for the Lord and for us, if we see that we have broken our promises to Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 31-34.
