Simply Trusting Him
God taught Moses the nature of faith by using his rod or staff.(Exodus 4:4) We all need to learn this lesson of simply trusting the Lord. God was convincing Moses to go back to Egypt so that he could be used by God to deliver the Israelites from bondage. Moses was hard to convince, so God had to give him some miraculous signs to work for the Egyptians to show he was sent from God. One sign was to throw down his rod, and it would turn into a snake. That happened when Moses threw down his rod, but the next thing is what is the lesson in faith. God told Moses to take the snake by the tail. What do you think about that? It is not very smart to pick up a poisonous snake by the tail, unless it is by God's direction. The snake can easily bite you, if you do that. However, when God tells us to do it, we should do it quickly, because that is faith.
We do not have to understand what God is telling us to trust Him. We do not have to agree with Him to trust Him. We do not have to think what He is saying is the smart thing to do to trust Him. We simply trust what He says and do it. Then, we see Him work in response to our faith. God loves faith. It pleases Him. However, incomplete obedience is not faith. It is disobedience. We are to listen to the Master and follow His instructions completely, because He is Lord, and we are the servants. Faith is doing what He says. It is simply trusting Him. Therefore, to exercise faith we must set our hearts to hear from the Lord and then, to simply trust Him by obeying fully.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Exodus 6-9.
