Dressing for Victory
Do you have on God's Armor today? It is something we need to put on every day.(Ephesians 6:11) We would not think of leaving the house without being properly dressed for the weather and for the occasion. However, many people forget to get dressed for victory over Satan.
God commands us twice in Ephesians 6 to "put on" the whole armor of God (6:11) and to "take up" the whole armor of God. (6:13) It must be pretty important. In fact, it is essential for defeating Satan. The good thing is that God has freely supplied all we need for victory. All we have to do is to put it on each day, so that we face the world, the flesh, and the devil in God's power.
Every believer has the helmet of salvation, but do we stand each day in the fact that we are secure in Christ, so that Satan has no real power to defeat us, and do we use the mind of Christ to think as we should? Do we stand in the righteousness of Christ, because God has pronounced us right with Him, just as if we had never sinned, and do we seek to live in a righteous way before God and others in our emotions and decisions? Do we realize that we have the belt truth and we are to live by it? Jesus is the Truth, His Word is Truth, and we have the Spirit of Truth. We have the Gospel of peace protecting our feet, so we can stand firm for Christ and be a witness to everyone we meet. Do we use the shield of faith to make every decision by trusting the Lord, not ourselves or other people? Do we use the sword of the Spirit which is God's Word as an offensive weapon against Satan and those who attack us? Also, are we praying constantly while walking in the Spirit? If we put on the "whole" armor every day, there are no cracks in the defenses, and Satan will be defeated no matter what he throws at us.
Please, don't ever leave the house without being dressed for victory.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Philippians 1-3.
