Weakness can be Good
Many times we do not want to admit our weakness. We would rather talk about how strong we are and all of the things we can do well. Paul found out that it is good to boast in his weaknesses, because it was then that the power of God could rest on him.(II Corinthians 12:9) We all need to learn this life lesson and practice it all the time.
If we try to solve our own problems and overcome our own weaknesses, God will let us. He will stay on the sideline and watch, as we use our own power and abilities to live our lives. He knows it won't work, but He is hoping we will understand that and listen to Him.
When we admit our weakness and inability to handle our life situations to Him, He is quick to supply His grace for all we need. It is His gift to those who are humble enough to trust Him in everything. The reason it happens this way is that He gets the credit for the results. When we do it, we get the credit. God does not share His glory with anyone.
Therefore, as I heard an evangelist say years ago, "We need to stop trying and start trusting." Just admit that we are all weak. He is the only one who is strong. Since He loves us enough to work in and through us to bring about His will, let's let Him do it His way. His way is always the best. Yes, Paul had to live with a thorn in the flesh for the rest of his life, but he was constantly seeing God's power displayed to overcome his weakness. If that is what it takes to see God's power, we all need some kind of thorn to remind us that we need Him all the time.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Galatians 2-4.
