When the Gold and Silver become Worthless
We hear a lot of ads on the radio and TV about buying gold and silver as a hedge against inflation and a protection against the collapse of the dollar. I would imagine there are a lot of people stockpiling gold and silver, as well as food, because they are afraid of what is coming. The problem with this strategy is that if God pours out His anger on the USA fully, the gold and silver will be worthless like it was in Israel when the Babylonians took over.(Ezekiel 7:19) Then, what can you do? Believe me, there is nothing we can do at that point, except humbly throw ourselves upon the mercy of Almighty God.
What if we had a three year famine like in the days of Elijah, so that there was no food grown because there was not enough water? What if you get a disease sent from the Lord like one of the plagues mentioned in the book of Revelation? What if another country like China or Russia attacks our computers, destroys our economy, and blockades our ports, because we have dismantled our military for budget reasons? In these cases and others it doesn't matter how much gold, silver, or money you have, it is worthless to deliver you.
Just like Jeremiah 7:19 tells us money is part of the sin of America. No, money is not bad. It can be used for good or bad, though, and many people are using it for evil and not for good. Hard work is good, and saving is good, but greed is bad. Being covetous and materialistic breaks God's 10th commandment. Having a society based on consumerism leads people to base their lives on acquiring things, instead of trusting God and helping other people. All of these things are caused by rejecting God and going in the wrong way. That is why God is angry and judging our country. The only hope is to turn back to Him fully and live by His Word and His ways. Then, He can restore our economy through a good work ethic and Biblical morals. He can bless our country to loan, instead of borrow money. He can protect us from the plagues and famines. He is our only hope.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 10-12.
