A Watchman
We need more watchmen today, both men and women, and we need to listen to the watchmen sent by God to warn us of dangers.(Ezekiel 3:17) God called the prophet, Ezekiel, to be a watchman for the people of God in exile in Babylon. A watchman in those days was a person who stood on the city wall and watched for the approach of enemies, so the people could prepare to defend themselves. It was a vital position.
The same is true today. God calls people to be those who warn people of dangers from enemies. Have you been called by God to do this? If so, be faithful. You have a vital role to play in leading people to see the truth and the errors of life. You know you are called to do this, when God speaks to you, and gives you a message to deliver to another person or other people. When that happens, don't delay. Deliver the warning, because if you don't, their blood will be on your hands. That means you will be held partly responsible for their lack of obedience.
Also, if you hear a watchman's warning. Obey it immediately. Don't wait. God will hold you responsible for every message you hear and what you do to obey it. It is not enough to know the truth, we must obey the truth and act on it.
The children of Israel refused to listen to their prophets and watchmen. It led to much pain and their eventual destruction and exile. The same could very well happen to us, if we fail to deliver the word of God and to obey the Word of God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 4-6.
